During the flight from Algeria to Cameroon, Pope Leo XIV explained his visit to a mosque: "The visit was significant in showing that, despite our different beliefs, ways of worshipping and ways of living, we can live together in peace." However, Leo XIV had referred to the mosque as a 'divine, sacred space' and was not just talking about social affairs.
Pope explains his visit to the mosque was not to pretend Catholicism and Islam are the same but simply to promote the rejection of religious violence in Algeria.
This odd video is obviously chopped up and not necessarily representative of what was said. However, if he actually said something akin to "we have different ways of worshiping", beware. The point is the object of worship, not the manner of worshiping.
