Leo XIV to Lutheran Lay-Bishops: We Have a “Shared Mission in the World”

Today, Leo XIV welcomed the Lutheran State Bishops of Norway in audience.
Referring to the fallen human condition, Leo XIV said it is “all too easy to adopt an attitude of hostility toward those with whom we disagree”.
That is why he seeks – at least with Protestants – “concrete paths of reconciliation and of fraternity”.
Leo XIV recalled Christ’s prayer for the unity of his disciples.
Key phrase: “Grounded in our common Baptism and our shared mission in the world, I pray that we may always grow together in our service to the promotion of peace and justice.”

Ecumenism sounds nice, but it does not work. Much dialogue has produced hardly any converts to Catholicis, while there have been countless apostate Catholics who have become non-Catholic.

SonoftheChurch

Perhaps the Superior General of the FSSPX should have declared himself a “Lutheran Bishop” from Norway, so he could have joined this delegation in Private Audience with Leo. Hmmm? 🤔

The Kyiv Independent
Hundreds of people gathered in Kyiv to bid farewell to Oleksii Yukov, head of the Platsdarm body recovery group, following a service at St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral and a procession to Independence Square. Yukov died on Aug. 5 from wounds received during an exhumation mission on the front line in Donetsk Oblast. Yukov told the Kyiv Independent on Aug. 2 that he had repatriated over 10,000 bodies.
His death highlights the growing risks faced by volunteer search teams working under constant drone surveillance to recover bodies near the front lines. Without this work, many soldiers risk remaining permanently listed as missing in action, leaving families without answers or the chance to hold a proper burial.

It's a shame that so many people are dying for the greed and hatred of others. But what about what the US and NATO what they are doing everyday in Russia? What Ukraine did for many years to their own people? And still at it. Propaganda needs to be destroyed. This is what I see everyday in Russia. And much worse sometimes. Everyone is silent and no one reports it.
At least nine people have been killed and six others wounded in a Ukrainian strike on a passenger bus in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), according to Governor Leonid Pasechnik.
Or this.
The death toll in the Ukrainian drone strike on a childcare center in the southern Russian city of Krasnodar on Monday has risen to four, Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova reported on Wednesday.

Rev. Michael Pfleger Cleared of Latest Abuse Allegation

Rev. Michael Pfleger, 77, was reinstated effective August 24 after the Archdiocese of Chicago's Independent Review Board completed its investigation. He is known nationally for his progressive activism.
Cardinal Blase Cupich, 77, said the board, assisted by the Office of Child Protection and outside investigators, concluded there was “no reason to believe” Pfleger was guilty of the allegation. Cupich accepted the recommendation and returned him to ministry at St. Sabina.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times reporting, a woman alleged that Pfleger sexually abused her when she was a girl attending St. Sabina's school sometime between 1993 and 1995. The allegation surfaced this July, and Pfleger was removed from ministry on July 11 while it was investigated.
Rev. Pfleger denied it emphatically from the outset, calling it an “absolute lie.”
Under archdiocesan policy, the allegation was reported to police, and the accuser was offered assistance through the church's Victim Assistance Ministry. …আরও

Chinese Underground Church Consecrated 10 Bishops without Papal Mandate

After the 2018 Sino-Vatican agreement “terrible things happen to Catholics” in the Fujian province, an anonymous Chinese bishop who is unaffiliated with the Chinese state church ‘Patriotic Association’, told Anthony Clark for CatholicWorldReport.com on August 23.
The bishop speaks of a “state of emergency”.
As government influence over the bishops increases, “the integrity of the Catholic faith will suffer.” To “assure the survival of China’s Church,” new bishops have been “secretly consecrated.”
The bishop says the faithful question Rome’s genuine concern for their “spiritual well-being” when the Holy See approves government-selected bishops whom they regard as too reliable to the state.
The number is unknown, but he suggested that “at least ten new bishops” were consecrated for the underground community in the Fujian province.

Preliminary Recourse of FSSPX Rejected: The Vatican’s deadline to respond to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX) regarding its preliminary recourse against the July 2 decree declaring six bishops automatically excommunicated has now passed, notes @Michael Haynes The FSSPX submitted its recourse to the Holy See on July 11. Under canon law, the competent authority had 30 days to respond. With that period now expired without a decision, the FSSPX can proceed to the next stage of its canonical challenge. Canon 1735 provides that when no decision is issued within the prescribed 30 days, the time limit for presenting hierarchical recourse begins to run from the 30th day.

Leo’s liturgical problem: SSPX and the Latin Mass

VATICAN CITY (Per Mariam) — The return of Pope Leo from his summer vacation serves as a useful moment for both the pontiff and the wider Church to take stock of his pontificate after another year, with a number of key agenda items demanding his early attention. As the motorcade departed the papal villas in Castel Gandolfo on the evening of July 27, Vatican observers began to resume their normal posts as Leo’s return to the Vatican signalled the pope’s return to work. This year he took nearly the full month of July for a personal holiday, and though it was interspersed with some lighter duties and trips to pilgrimage spots, it was overall a period of quiet. No official meetings or audiences were scheduled and it is the longest single block of time that Leo has spent away from work since he was elected – last summer he took two separate and shorter holidays at Castel Gandolfo. Ben-Gvir claims removing UNRWA compound from East Jerusalem
Israel seizes UNRWA training center in occupied East Jerusalem

Israel seized the Qalandia Training Center from UNRWA to build a new educational complex, claiming historical ownership by the Jewish National Fund and prompting Palestinian calls for UN intervention.
'Israeli' police forces took control of a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) facility in Kafr 'Aqab, located in East Jerusalem, and evicted its staff on Tuesday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed. Speaking on behalf of the police force, Ben-Gvir confirmed that a large detachment of police personnel carried out the operation to remove the UN agency from the site. Leo XIV: "Novus Ordo Rooted in and Respected the Tradition of Church"

At today’s General Audience, Leo XIV praised the failed liturgical reform after Vatican II.
He quoted extensively from a letter by the future Paul VI, Cardinal Montini, dated October 1962. He wrote that the faithful “cannot and must no longer remain silent and passive”.
No Participation: Novus Ordo Churches Empty
Leo XIV added that “the participation of the faithful cannot be passive”. The Conciliar reform “was intended to allow the liturgy to shine forth”.
He believes there was “the need to make the richness of the biblical texts and prayers more accessible to all the faithful”.
"Necessary" to Revise Liturgy
Furthermore, Leo XIV claims that the liturgy “has always been subject to developments and changes”.
“It is therefore not surprising that the Second Vatican Council too, with the utmost respect for the heritage of tradition, and precisely in order to make it more accessible, considered it necessary to revise the liturgical books.”
According to Leo XIV, “the liturgical reform promoted …আরও

From promises of riches to ‘cannon fodder’: Colombians expose reality of fighting for Ukraine (VIDEO)

Two Colombian fighters recently captured by Russian forces told RT they were lured to Ukraine with promises that bore little resemblance to the reality on the front line. Russian forces steadily liberate settlements in Donbass and elsewhere, leaving Ukraine struggling to sustain frontline units. At home, recruitment has increasingly relied on ‘busification’ – a term for draft officers violently snatching military-age men in public and dragging them into vans bound for draft centers. Videos of these incidents emerge almost daily, fueling public tensions and driving men to evade the draft by any means, including illegally fleeing the country. As manpower shortages worsen, Colombia has emerged as a major source of foreign recruits, targeted through social media …

Peruvian Prelates Violate First Commandment at Event Promoting LGBT Ideologies and “Comprehensive Sex Education”

Rorate Coeli reported published a report from InfoVaticana yesterday morning showing that two Catholic bishops and a monsignor participated in a pagan ritual (venerating and praying to Pachamama) in a conference intended to prepare the way for Pope Leo’s trip to Peru this November. The initial story came from the Vatican News, and unsurprisingly, Vatican News omitted several key details. The event titled “Weaving Voices for Dignity: For Human Rights and the Common Good” was organized by three organizations: Coordinadora Nacional de Derechos Humanos (CNDDHH), Comisión Episcopal de Acción Social (Episcopal Commission for Social Action of the Peruvian Bishops’ Conference), and Derechos Humanos Sin Fronteras. In addition to representatives from unnamed “social organizations, Indigenous peoples and communities, grassroots groups, leaders, and human rights defenders,” the list of participants in the event included Bp. Leo XIV “has made room for progressive LGBTQ+ voices in several recent high-profile appointments”, writes the homosexual website Them.us on August 24. The article highlights four recent pro-homosexual appointments of bishops. The examples are:
- James Checchio (New Orleans): he supported homosexual propaganda as bishop of Metuchen, New Jersey.
- Ramón Bejarano (Monterey, California): he presided over homosexual Eucharists as auxiliary bishop in San Diego, including transvestites in the liturgy.
- Christian Würtz (Eichstätt, Germany): he supported “blessings” for homosexuals and changes to biblical teaching on homosexuality.
- Thomas Hennen (Baker, Oregon): he drafted pro-homosexual “pastoral” guidelines.

Pope Leo XIV’s LGBTQ-Friendly Appointments Include Bishop Invited Drag Queen to Mass

The first American Pope has made room for progressive LGBTQ+ voices in several recent high-profile appointments, per an analysis in the popular Substack Letters from Leo, written by former Obama staffer Christopher Hale. In February, Pope Leo XIV officially appointed Bishop James Checchio as leader of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, per a blogpost from New Ways Ministry, a Catholic outreach organization that “educates and advocates for equity, inclusion, and justice for LGBTQ+ persons.” Checchio had been in line to take over the role informally since September 2025, per EWTN News. Checchio, who had previously led the Metuchen Diocese in New Jersey, made LGBTQ+ outreach a priority with at least two of the 75 parishes under his jurisdiction known to be explicitly LGBTQ+-friendly, according to New Ways Ministry: Sacred Heart Parish in South Plainfield and St. Joseph Parish in Hillsborough. Not only did Checcio support a group for LGBTQ+ Catholics in his diocese, he attended their 2016 …

July 1 Blessed Junípero Serra Ferrer, O.F.M.
(November 24, 1713 – August 28, 1784)
Junípero Serra Ferrer, O.F.M.
was a Spanish Franciscan friar who founded a mission in Baja California and the first nine of 21 Spanish missions in California from San Diego to San Francisco, which at the time were in Alta California in the Province of Las Californias in New Spain. He began in San Diego on July 16, 1769, and established his headquarters near Monterey, California, at Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo.
The missions were primarily designed to convert the natives. Other aims were to integrate the neophytes into Spanish society, and to train them to take over ownership and management of the land. As head of the order in California, Serra not only dealt with church officials, but also with Spanish officials in Mexico City and with the local military officers who commanded the nearby presidios (garrisons).
