He was no “penitent pilot,” but a witness to Hiroshima who chose peace, prayer and service. Father Tony died of leukemia on March 8, 2002, aged 73.

German Church Cancels November Synodal Conference as Vatican Delays Approval: The first “Synodal Conference” of the Church in Germany, scheduled to take place in Stuttgart on November 6–7, has been postponed, Domradio reported on August 28. The main reason is that the statutes are still awaiting the necessary recognition from the Vatican. Hotel rooms that had been reserved for the November meeting have been cancelled.
